An inside look into the 15th July 2008 meeting

We  had a great meeting on Tuesday 15^th July evening – this time had the honor of having with us 2 DTMs that made all the difference in how we performed. We the club members are grateful to DTM Mazhar Jamil and DTM Samina Jamil who shared their evening with us.

The meeting was a surprise meeting flung on us , so we selected the theme of the meeting to be “Surprise!”

TM Arshad Hamid was the Toastmaster of the evening, DTM Mazhar Jamil Table Topic Master, TM Humaun Sajjad the time keeper, TM Ayesha Asad Word Master, Salman Asad Grammarian, TM Maliha Elahi Ah-Counter, DTM Mazhar Jamil Vote counter, TM Mujahid Naseer General Evaluator, Speaker 1 TM Asim Sarfraz, Speaker 2 TM Suhail Iqbal, Evaluator 1 DTM Samina Jamil and Evaluator 2 TM Maliha Elahi.

A prayer was held for TM Asim’s cousin who tragically passed away in an accident.

DTM Mazhar Jamil conducted a Table Topic Contest, that was really interesting and fun. and kept correcting and fine tuning how we conducted meetings. He very aptly demonstrated each role and then we followed suit.

The time keeper reported all members were within time according to their roles and speeches. The group also voted for three members who were instrumental in building and sustaining the club – TM Maliha Elahi, TM Arshad Hamid and TM Suhail Iqbal ( we all got fancy 7 star badges from DTM Mazhar – thankyou). TM Maliha was voted the winner in Table Topic contest, TM Suhail was voted as the best speaker and TM Maliha was also voted as the best evaluator, TM Arshad was voted for the Big 3 award. Congratulations to all.

Yesterday was also Hon. TM Iram Suhail’s birthday – many happy returns of the day.

The meeting was started late – i guess we have moved our clocks forward but our body sticks to the old time, I would really encourage all members to let time chase them rather than them chasing after the time.

The meeting had a light and yet vibrant air about it, with subtle jokes shared by Arshad.

King of Ahs was TM Arshad, TM Asim was the only member who used the word of the day “Vivid” and that too very beautifully.

The meeting was adjourned after guest members gave their views. We celebrated Iram’s Birthday at Islamabad Club over dinner and lovely cake from her husband – TM Suhail Iqbal.

SATURDAY 19 July, 2008 – DTM Mazhar Jamil will conduct a training session for EC and their shadow officers. Please make it convenient to attend at NICS, the training is compulsory for all EC members however if any member wishes to attend the session (and will definitely benefit from it), they are most welcome.
