Table Topics Contest 2011

Islamabad Toastmasters Club conducted Annual Table Topics Contest this week at NICS, Lok Virsa, Islamabad. A large number of guests were invited. Senior TM Nauman Faridi was the Contest Master and he conducted the contest with the help of three judges. Eight Toastmasters participated in the contest. They were all sent to a separate waiting room and called into the hall one by one. They were all given the same topic and each speaker had to speak for minimum one minute and maximum two and a half minutes. The Table Topics Contest question was, “New Year, New Resolutions, A troubled Nation, How can you Contribute as a Toastmaster?”

All the speakers spoke and performed very well however after finalizing the judges’ points, Toastmaster Mohsin Lodhi won the first prize, Toastmaster Umaid Khalid second while Toastmaster Mian Ramzan won the third prize.

The ceremony was followed by a Pizza Party and all the members and guests enjoyed very much. When asked for their comments, all the guests shared their views and appreciated the efforts of Islamabad Toastmasters Club in providing a great learning and practicing opportunity to the people in Rawalpindi and Islamabad to improve their communication, leadership and public speaking skills

58th Toastmasters club meeting held

The 58th meeting of Islamabad Toastmasters was held at National Institute of Cultural Studies (NICS), Lok Virsa.

According to a press release issued here on Thursday, membership kits were distributed to existing members including club guides on communication and leadership and back issues of the monthly Toastmasters magazine.

Toastmaster of the evening was the club president, Mohsin Lodhi, Table topics master was Toastmaster Ehsan Abbasi, and General evaluator was Toastmaster Adeel Faisal. Table topics are short impromptu speeches and the winner was Toastmaster Maliha Elahi. There was one prepared speech and the award for best prepared speaker went to Toastmaster Asim Husain. The award for best evaluator went to distinguished Toastmaster Mazhar Jamil and the big 3 award went to Toastmaster Mohsin Lodhi.

The session was attended by three guests also who expressed their interest in joining the club from October.

Islamabad Toastmasters Club is a public speaking club where members get to polish their communication and leadership skills. The club meets every Tuesday at Lok Virsa at 6:30 p.m.

Toastmasters choose their new VP Memberships

The 57th meeting of Islamabad Toastmasters Club was held at National Institute of Cultural Studies (NICS), Lok Virsa.

According to a press release issued here Wednesday, the members of the club elected their new Vice President Memberships, Asim Husain. Asim Husain, a telecom executive, thanked all club members and explained his strategy for attracting both quantity and quality to the club’s membership. He said that he will create awareness about the club at different companies and universities as well as on different portals and blogs relevant to Islamabad. He also mentioned a referral program where a special award will be given to the club member who sponsors the highest number of new members. The founder President, Maliha Elahi, and the current President, Mohsin Lodhi, backed the strategy set out by Asim and assured him of their full support and cooperation.
 
The election was followed by table topics, which are short impromptu speeches, and prepared speeches. The winner for table topics was Toastmaster Muhammad Amir and the winner for speeches was Toastmaster Mohsin. This was followed by a lavish iftar party which was enjoyed by all club members.

The objective of Islamabad Toastmasters Club is to develop competent communicators and leaders. The next meeting of the club will take place after eid on September 29, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at the same venue. To learn more about the club, please email vpmemberships@islamabad.toastmasters.pk.
